AN INTRODUCTION
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture involves inserting fine needles into certain points of the body with the aim of stimulating the body’s own healing chemicals. Physiotherapists use a form of acupuncture that follows clinical and researched evidence in order to help aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation. The brain and spinal cord are stimulated to help produce natural chemicals that reduce pain, promote sleep and restore the body’s systems to a state of balance (homeostasis). These chemicals, i.e. endorphins, melatonin and serotonin work to assist the body’s healing process.
Acupuncture can be used alongside other treatments or exercise techniques to help maximise your recovery and well-being. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
VITALIZE REVIEWS
Acupuncture Reviews
After having a baby I was plagued with pain in my neck and back and I was struggling to sleep. Simon advised that I should have acupuncture and my symptoms dramatically improved. As well as the treatment, Simon demonstrated exercises that were tailored to my needs. I would highly recommend Simon.

What does acupuncture involve?
Acupuncture is one of many treatments that can be offered by specially trained Physiotherapists. At Vitalize Physiotherapy, our therapists are members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, ensuring the highest standard of training. During the assessment, your Physiotherapist will determine the locations of the acupuncture points and the number required. A single use, pre-sterilised, disposable needle will pierce the skin at these acupuncture points. The number, size and depth of the needles will vary depending on the individual and are typically left in position for 20 to 30 minutes before being removed.
Conditions that acupuncture may help with:
